Gibson O’Connor North Shore Open and PSA Draws Set

The first PSA events of the 2017 New Zealand season sees the North Shore Squash club looking to continue their success after the hosting of the World Masters Games 2017 with their hosting of a Men’s and Women’s $5K PSA event.

The Men’s draw sees New Zealander Evan Williams taking the top spot. The current World Ranked number 82 will face local North Shore club member Sion Wiggin in the first round. Wiggin will look to use home court knowledge to his advantage whilst Williams will be looking to use his knowledge gained from time training overseas to take the win.

Australian Josh Larkin is the second seed in the event and the current World Ranked number 88 will have a qualifier in the first round of the main draw. Kiwi Ben Grindrod takes third seeding in the Men’s draw and he will also face a qualifier first up. Valentino Bong of Malaysia takes the fourth seeding in the Men’s Draw and will play Robert Andrew Garcia of the Phillipines in the first round of the Main Draw.

The Men’s draw sees several players from New Zealand, Malaysia, Phillipines, Korea, Australia, Pakistan and Egypt competing in the event. The Qualification draw for the men’s event starts on Wednesday 24th May at 6pm at the North Shore Squash Club.

The Women’s draw sees New Zealanders Amanda Laders-Murphy (WR #55) and Megan Craig (WR #144) taking the number one and two seedings respectively. Landers-Murphy and Craig will both face Qualifiers in the first round of the Main Draw.

Australian’s Jessica Turnbull and Samantha Foyle take the third and fourth seeds in the draws and will both be facing qualifiers in the first round of the main draw. The Women’s draw sees entrants from New Zealand, Australia, Phillipines, India and Scotland competing in the event. The Qualification draw for the women’s event starts on Thursday 25th May from 6pm at the North Shore Squash Club.
