Auckland Squash Centre Summer Open

Auckland Squash Centre's "Summer Open" finals were a strong showing for the upcoming squash stars, with Lance Beddoes leading the way.

Lance reversed his previous weekend's loss to Mike Corren.....beating him in four sets to take out the Inaugural ASC Summer Open Title.

Finals day at the ASC Summer Open wrapped up a fun, well run tournament that had a real buzz and great atmosphere throughout the event.

After thanking the ASC team, the tournament players and referees (Heather Findlay and Steve Fraser), Scott Harrison, of the ASC, made special mention of the young talent competing in the tournament.

"I first saw Lance battling it out in the under 11 age group and Chris Lloyd at a similar age. It is very impressive to see the professionals that both Lance and Chris have become...... with top NZ rankings, playing the pro tournaments offshore and proving themselves against benchmark players like Mike Corren" says Scott. 

"We've also seen a taste of Tyler Duberly and Michael Shelton-Agar who are both dedicated juniors and putting the work in. They were both seeded low in their divisions and graded lower than many of the players they were up against. Full credit to Michael for winning his whole division and Tyler was unlucky to be pipped by a more experienced player in the Ladies final."
